“How is the indwelling Spirit not relational?” – David Crabtree

Let’s have a Joyful and Happy Christmas!

Let’s defy the odds and be Happy

Choosing to be joyful, grateful, and happy during this Christmas season is tantamount to an act of defiance. With so much going on in the world, wars, social confusion, and political craziness, it’s not so easy to accept the angels’ message, “I have come to bring you great news!”

Despite the social and political tensions of the day, Jesus’ birth brought a counter-culture message.

An Angelic Encounter

That night, in a field near Bethlehem, there were shepherds watching over their flocks. Suddenly, an angel of the Lord appeared in radiant splendor before them, lighting up the field with the blazing glory of God, and the shepherds were terrified! But the angel reassured them, saying, “Don’t be afraid. For I have come to bring you good news, the most joyous news the world has ever heard! And it is for everyone everywhere! For today in Bethlehem a rescuer was born for you. He is the Lord Yahweh, the Messiah. You will recognize him by this miracle sign: You will find a baby wrapped in strips of cloth and lying in a feeding trough!”
Then all at once, a vast number of glorious angels appeared, the very armies of heaven! And they all praised God, singing:
Glory to God in the highest realms of heaven!
For there is peace and a good hope given to the sons of men.

Luke 2:8-14 TPT

We Choose to Defy the Pessimism of the Age

Being joyful, happy, and grateful is a choice we can make. The source of the angel’s joy was all about Jesus’ birth, and that He was to bring salvation to the world. Excellent news indeed! Jesus’ coming, death, and resurrection allowed for His Spirit to come on all people who believed in Him. The Holy Spirit brings Grace, God’s empowering Presence, which is an enabling strength to transform us and to bring us an eternal, very positive perspective.

We are enabled to choose joy in our lives because He is joy.

Merry Christmas!
